As Associate Director of Youth and Children’s Programs for a non-profit organization in my hometown of Newark New Jersey, I had the honor of having lunch with Marion Wright Edelman Founder and President of The Children’s Defense Fund. Over lunch, I was able to share my gratitude for the support my family received through her fund. While my children attended the Literacy-based Freedom School Programs each summer, I had the pleasure of being a parent/educator volunteer and enjoyed reading books with thousands of children.
